Enthusiasm for the metaverse and extended reality

The Metaverse report of Ipsos

According to research by Ipsos, the level of interest and desire to expand Metaverse into life in emerging countries is highest.

This demonstrates that emerging countries are motivated to conduct research, acquire knowledge, and discover methods for implementing new technologies.

Ipsos conducted this survey for The World Economic Forum on May 25, 2022. It revealed that:

  • 52% of adults in 29 countries were familiar with the Metaverse.
  • 50% of them wanted to extend it more fully into their life.

The enthusiasm of people in emerging countries is greater than that of high-income countries:

  • In China, India, Peru, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia, more than two-thirds are positive about engaging with the open world.
  • However, this is not the case in Japan, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Canada, France, and Germany.

In terms of demographics:

  • Men, young and highly educated individuals have higher levels of enthusiasm and familiarity than women, older and less educated adults.

Despite national and demographic differences, there is still a global expectation for the applicability of the Metaverse to life in the fields of study, work and entertainment in the coming decades
